Head Coach

Steve Mlujeak

Steve’s been racing bikes for over 25 years and coaching all ages for the last 10 years. While serving in the Coast Guard, he raced his first race in Alaska and that was it! He was hooked on racing bikes. Over the next many years, he made it to the elite Cat. 1 ranks and qualified for the Olympic Trials in the years 2000 and 2004. Steve then became a full-time athlete and Team Captain for the U.S Armed Forces Team, which gave him the opportunity to race all over the world.
In 2012, after being asked to coach the kids of his friends, he started a junior cycling team, The Interactive Metronome Development Team. It quickly became the most dominating team in the state and southeast, and won multiple national and state championship titles. Steve now works coaching all levels of athletes in cycling and multisport. He is a leader in building Top Step Development to get kids off their screens and onto bikes.
Steve is married with two children. Jamie, Steve’s wife, is a physical therapist assistant at Nova Southeastern University. Daughter Stephanie is Cycling for Belmont Abbey College. Son Tyler is cycling on the Top Step Development Team

Steve’s integrity as a coach is beyond compare. He gives personal time to his clients, organizing team rides, clinics, etc. He really pays attention to my individual schedule and my goals, taking into account personal / career life demands. I’ve only been riding a bike for 2 years; Steve coached me to a 3rd place podium in the Florida State Criterium races.”

They say that the difference between winning a bike race and finishing 20th is only 10%. Well, in one year, Steve has helped me improve my personal best by 25 watts, that’s 10%, at 52 years of age! Over the years, I have trained other ways; there is certainly a difference at Top Step. Improve strength, power, endurance and speed with measurable statistics.

Steve is my personal coach for triathlon cycling. Steve had the experience and temperament I was looking for. I have total confidence in his training and philosophy. Within a few months, my FTP increased +20%, ran stronger and PR’d in many races. Our work together continues …

My wife and I decided to join a 3 days, 375 miles ride. A friend recommended Steve for the training preparation. We were able to successfully finish our big first event.
